American Standard 2461.002.020 Cambridge 5-Feet Bath Tub with Right-Hand Drain, White

First, I can't believe I bought a bathtub at Amazon. I live in a large metropolitan area and there are plenty of places to buy them, including Home Depot and Lowe's. But I was looking for a deeper tub for soaking and no store had one in the showroom...it would have to be ordered anyway. I took a chance and I'm glad I did.

This is a no bells and whistles tub with no decoration on the skirt, exactly what I wanted for my vintage bathroom. It's clean design will work in any decor, from old to contemporary.

I was concerned about the material. As it turns out, it's solid and mimics the appearance of traditional tub material. Acrylic holds the heat of the water much better than the old tub. The corners are deep and can accommodate many shampoo and shower products.

Best of all is the depth. When I want a soak I can have one.

Amazon shipped the tub for free and it arrived in perfect condition.

A prior review infers that the Cambridge is a plastic or acrylic tub. It is neither. American Standard's name for it is "Americast". An Americast tub is a steel tub coated with a porcelain coating on the user side and American Standard's patented structural composite on the underside. It is their alternative for a cast iron tub but is lighter than cast iron. (American Standard also sells cast iron tubs in different models.)

To verify info, go to americanstandard.com and do a search for 2461.002 which is the non-whirlpool version of the Cambridge tub. Then check the links on specifications and installation instructions.
